The Birth of Relaxus Beauty. Spent this week working with the lovely Vanessa LeBlanc on conceptualizing the new RB Logo and brand. The finished result is totally amazing. Loving the new modern crisp look. Im sure its going to take the cosmetic and beauty industry by storm Nothing better than making your own logo in the morning to start the day off fresh!

Wandering around provincial park never fails to amaze me. We’re so lucky to live amongst an abundance of natural beauty. Here we wandered through the lower regions of the park. It accommodates travellers of all walks, whether you’re a man with a troller or a hardcore camping climber you can find trails right off the parking spots. Gotta love winter here

Back to Realism

After spending some time with different forms I decided to create an old fashioned realism painting. Having taken numerous photographs of the Vancouver skyline of late I used that for inspiration. Sunsets around the city have always been spectacular. The bright bold colours are used by a multitude of artists around the area. I decided to use a sunset taken during the smoggy forest fire season, as the colours were glowing in an eerily sci-fi orange. The medium I used was acrylic…. again. I decided to insert snowy mountains instead of the seasonal green for added effect. I mainly used a palette knife and brush. The frame was made using a standard angle saw and wood from home depot; with adhesive to ceil.

We got some new artwork delivered to the office a few months back. Several pieces were photographs of lips, pulling different expressions. Simple but I loved it. I grabbed my paints last weekend and spent a few hours throwing together a colourful interruption of this work. The end product was a bit cartoony… bit someone bought it so I retract my criticism. The piece was put together rather quickly. 2 hours using acrylic and chalk. Im not sure Im going to use the splatter effect for much longer as it doesn’t feel like my style. Still Im glad I experimented with it for a period.

Another one finished. So this painting took me a few months to complete. The layers and different mediums used meant it had to be done in stages. The main mediums are Acrylic, Gesso and Spray Paint (using spray paint makes me cool right?). Im not a portrait painting person but this man is my idol, through and through. Texture Painting Experimentation

First attempt at #acrylic #texturepainting. The idea was to use my hands and a palette knife. There’s a lot of technique that I’ll change for the next time but I’m pretty pleased with the result. The idea was to be as minimalistic as possible. Research lead me to a few artists who’s work I enjoyed but the overall outcome used my own techniques.

Part 2. Fast forward tot he choice of hike and we hit a snag. During winter months, which evidently include end of fall and some of spring, the park closes at 5:30pm. Bolting its gates so that reckless 7pm hikers get trapped in its belly, never to be seen again…. until the following morning. Sadly we could only do a. The lucky winner turned out to be. Ill be honest, Im not the-spotting type but the forest and Ive heard are pretty damn impressive. So we set off on the short and sweet 5km falls hike.
